Come And Meet Her

Colette wrote this obiturary for mom, come and meet her.

Daisy Ste. Marie

December 07, 1926 – February 03, 2010

A much treasured Mother, Grand, Great & Great Great-Grandmother. With deep sadness we who loved her most announce that mom passed away peacefully in her home.

Born in Aberdeen, Scotland she came to Canada as a war bride, Daisy is predeceased by her husband Henri, children Peter and Pauline, grandson Sheldon, and sister Elsie McDonald.

She leaves to mourn her children: Harry (Jeannine); Kathy (Ernie); Dwain (Erika); Suzie (Peter); Mickey (Gord); Camille (Jim); Jacquie (Gil); Renee (Nizam); Colette (Rick); Lori (Mike); Gerry (Lisa); Shelly (Peter); Joey (Monique); 65 grand, great-grand, and great-great grandchildren.

Daisy devoted her life to her family. There was always room for one more in her house, if you walked in a stranger, you left as a friend. A quote from Daisy, “I may not leave you riches and gold, but I leave you, with all the love a mother’s heart can hold”. Good Night Mom. God Bless You. You are deeply missed already mom, until we see you once again, in the days beyond the days.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at 2:00 p.m., Holy Family Parish, 778 Archibald. Please join the family for tea at the Glen Lawn Funeral Home 455 Lagimodiere following the mass. A private family interment will take place.

The family would like to thank all who cared for our mother.

My dearest beloved Renee. Your mother is a beautiful woman. Death made your mom live forever in your hearts. Her physical absence hurts but in time the missing and longing will turn to a celebration of life. because she lives in you!

Goodnight Mrs. Daisy Ste. Marie. Rest in peace now and thank you for giving me my beloved friend.

RNSANE said...

My dear Renee, I did not know this lovely lady, your mother, died. I knew, of course, that she had been ill and I read your lovely birthday post about her. I send my condolences to you and all your wonderful famiy - when your clan gathers for holidays, it must be something else!! Sixty five grand, great-grand, and great-great grandchildren. How she must have loved that and how lucky they are to be part of such a special clan.

May your mother rest in peace although, I suspect, she will be very busy watching over all of you in the heavens and won't be resting much at all.

What a legacy Sweet Daisy has left indeed...the gold she created in the lives of others is worth so much more than all the gold that is so frantically treasured and sought after by many. The riches she bestowed upon each one of you are deep inside the heart where love resides. Welcome home Miss Daisy!

Blessings and Peace to all.

Firstly, what a lovely lovely picture, your mom is beautiful. And such a wonderful obit - 65 children/grandchildren/great-grandchildren and great-GREAT(!!)grandchildren - I can't get over it!! What a blessed lovely wonderful life.
I know you'd rather have her back more than anything. I felt that way last year with my dad. It was his time, but I wanted him (and still do) alive.
Dear Renee - not much comfort to send to you but I am thinking of you and your family and everything that has gone on. Please take whatever small comfort you can from the thoughts of your friends.

Thank you for sharing Colette's words and the picture of your mom. I now can see her blue eyes and imagine them smiling in the arms of your dad, looking over his shoulder to Sheldon and Peter and Pauline... The quote from you mom says it all, as does learning she had 65 grand, great grand, and great great grandchildren - wow!!! Blessings to you all - may your hurt soften and hearts heal. much love, Karin

She sounds like a wonderful woman and what a great photo! Much attention is paid to the fact that the generation of WWII vets is passing away but equal attention should also be paid to the fact that all the WWII war brides are also leaving us. What a generation of women they were! Leaving everything and everyone familiar to travel with a husband usually only recently met, to a strange land far away, to face an unknown future. Brave women!

Wishing heart's ease to you and your family.

“I am standing upon the seashore.
A ship at my side spreads her white
sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean.

She is an object of beauty and strength.I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.

Then, someone at my side says;
"There, she is gone!"

"Gone where?"

Gone from my sight. That is all.
She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.

Her diminished size is in me, not in her.

And just at the moment when someone
at my side says,

"There, she is gone!"

There are other eyes watching her coming,and other voices ready to take up the glad shout;

"Here she comes!"

And that is dying.”

I have met her in you, in Jacquie, in the strength and love of your family, I have met her in your humor and your determination.
I have met her. And I will never forget her.

She is now in the company of those who probably missed her too while she was here. Some day in the distant future you all will be together and life will be as you knew it when everyone was here and happy. It will be just the same, only very different. No pain, no suffering, a state a grace because the spirit lives only of love and of that, thanks to her and your father, you have plenty of.

Love to you all,

Renee,
Reading you blog I want to hold you...so many struggles, loss, pain...loss, pain. I can understand you desire to stop...but I don't want you to.
It seems as though your mother left the world knowing all the love she had in her life...a gift...I remember when my mom past, it was all that I wanted her to know...she is loved and always will be.
This life and death thing...it comes to us all...and the older I get the more a wonder what it's all about...is there a plan?...is life a test?...And since death comes to us all...it's interesting...no matter how we lead our lives..how much love we have or things we acquire we all end this journey the same way...and if we do take anything with us it would be the love...our common bond...and in the end all we may leave behind is the memories we make...you honor your mother so beautifully here. I am glad to know her...thank you Renee for your honesty and your loving heart...hug, hug...I wish I could blink your hurting heart and your pain away...

Oh Lovee, just stopping by to say you are a prayer upon my lips.

by Kathy Troccoli:

Help me, God I'm scared
And I'm unprepared to face the night alone
Hear me, hear my prayer
My soul, it aches
and I've nowhere to go.
Help me God

In this dark hour
I know only the power that made the stars
Can mend my heart.
Oh I've tried on my own but I'm not that strong
You're all I've got
You're all I've got
Help me God

Sometimes, people leave
And I can grieve cause life's not always fair
help me to hold on
though i can't see you, i believe you're there
I know you're there
In this dark hour
I know only the power that made the stars
Can mend my heart.
