My Mom is Probably Going to Kill Me

I am not sure if my Mom will kill me for trespassing in her Blogger account and writing to you (or for putting up this picture) but I think she will be ok with it. Lately, my Mom has been having a rough time. I know she has mentioned the bats flying around in her stomach, but now I would say that they laid their nests and they don’t seem to be leaving anytime soon. As a result, my Mom hasn’t been able to really eat or drink anything since the middle of October. Can you imagine?

She had a biopsy (the beginning of December) to find out what was going on and she did not receive her final results till Feb. 4….that being that the cancer cells in her stomach cannot be identified. The results are inconclusive because the cells resemble stem cells rather than tissue cells. The doctors have told her that they would treat it as a breast cancer (even though it is extremely rare for breast cancer to spread to the stomach) as they believe they are 90% sure that is what it is. At her appointment, they told her that she would start combination chemotherapy today. She heard these results on the day my Grandma died. I had no way of telling her that her mother had died as she spent the day at the doctor’s. Unfortunately, she was there so long and in so much pain; she was unable to visit her Mom one last time.

My Mom continued to suffer in her pain as she had for the last couple of months (believing that this is what it is like when you have cancer in your stomach) but it was becoming unbearable. She went to the hospital on Sunday and she is there still. She has still to find a balance between no pain and no nausea. She is still unable to really eat (I don’t think she could finish a whole yogurt cup in a day) or drink and we are thankful and that she is being taken care of and finally getting fluids in the hospital. The goal is to get her comfortable before they can think of any sort of treatment at this point. Hopefully, this will happen soon.

As for my Mom, I think her spirits are ok. I know that she is quite tired and frustrated. She throws up so many times a day and she is in quite a bit of pain in her legs and back. I imagine she was also quite upset that she hasn’t really been able to grieve for her Mom since she has been in so much pain and she was unable to attend the funeral. How shitty.

I feel like I am rambling but I need to get some of this out. I would normally tell my Mom what is bothering me but I am obviously not able to right now. I also feel that you should know what has been happening as I know her blogger friends are very dear to her. We often hear names and stories of her friends and I know that she takes so much comfort and pride in her relations. I thank you all for your support, prayers and well wishes. They have always meant so much to my Mom and to us, her family. Hopefully, my Mom will recover and be home real soon. I can’t imagine anything but.

How can we help? Shall we send care packages? How can we support you and your dad? Please do post what you can, specifically, as I love your mom so much and would love to be of help. I will be praying for her and your family. Please give her a gentle kiss from me. XOXOXOXOXOXO

Angelique: Thank you so much for sharing this news about your dear mother. I'm so sorry for this unrelenting suffering your family is going through - and especially for Renee. I am glad, however, that she is where she can be nourished intravenously, and hopefully her pain and suffering can be minimized.

Please give her a big hug for me and let her know that my thoughts are with her.

My thoughts go out to you and your family. Take care of yourselves too.

Angelique,
Thank you so much for this update. It saddens me to hear that your mom has been feeling so awful for so long. I think of her everyday and my thoughts and prayers are with all of your family.
I hope that the doctors can do something to get rid of the pain and find her some comfort.
Your Mom has a very kind spirit, I'm sure she won't hurt you.
I am also so sorry for the loss of your Grandma during this difficult time.

Oh Angelique sweetie...
This was just precious of you. I thank you so much for letting me know about sweet Renee. I am so, so sorry to hear about her sweet Moma. You take care of your Moma now, she needs you.

I have a prayer journal that I keep at my bedside with all of my prayer needs inside. I will be adding Renee and praying for some relief in all of this. She needs some nourishment, ofcourse it is helpful to have the IV's, but still. Please let her know I will be lifting her up in prayer.

Be strong sweetie. This is such a rough path to travel. We were there just this past October 23rd with my 33 year old neice, also passed to cancer. I know what your pain is like.

God Bless you Sweetie...Much love and hugs to you both, Sherry

Angelique,
So glad you found some time to post an update on your mom, thank you. I so enjoy her writting. I'm so glad I stumbled onto her blog a while back. She has helped me find insight into my heart as a mother, wife, sister, daughter and friend. Her heartfelt words, not only of the harsh truth about her battle with this terrible disease but more importantly about her love for life and all the people she holds so dear, have touched me so deeply and inspired me equally so.
I will continue to pray for her comfort and healing and for your entire family.

How very sad that she couldn't attend the funeral.

The blog world is definately emptier without your mom's huge presence. Please send her my love and tell her to do what she needs to do.

angelique this is so frustrating to read. I can't bear to think of your mother suffering like this.
I don't know if this will help but please look into alternatives, the western way of dealing with cancer is toxic! they are leeches making money off of the suffering of others. I heard about this group on a radio program on health on www.Hayhouseradio.com and made note of it:

http://www.peopleagainstcancer.net/about.asp

I don't know anything other than a doctor was mentioned who had been able to cure cancers but not in the conventional way. I am not affiliated with them, but I encourage you to do a bit of research. They may be able to recommend something to give your mom relief. Cancer should not be rampant in this day and age! Please look at more natural ways of helping your mother, she deserves a beautiful life.

you can delete this post if you like, I wanted to get the message to you

Though it's upsetting that there are no definite answers, I'm relieved that she is receiving treatment. Please tell your dear mother that when I walk with my fists closed, I now imagine I am holding her hands; that my arms are long and I imagine sending her a warm embrace; that my heart sobs yet is so full of love because she taught me how to open my heart. We will pray and wait. And darling Angelique, please know that we are here for you, too. Always.

With deepest love,
bella

I love the goofy photo of your mom that you posted here ... There's obviously such a deep and willing-knit bondedness in your family ... This must be what keeps you all so sane and centered on love when there has been so much loss for you all ...

Please tell your mom I love her ... She has been such a cherished, wise, witty friend to many people ...

Be well, dear daughter of Renee.

What a sweet loving face your mother has and you Angelique are her daughter true and through. You can always talk to me Angelique and it will never be considered rambling. Thank you again and take care. Please give your mother a hug and a kiss for me and you have to say it is from me and when you kiss her on her cheek please make a loud smacking sound and say MWAH!

Angelique, thanks for this update. I was worried about your mum's health the last time she posted about the damned bats. Wish your mum better amd I hope the bats vacate their nests soon. By the way, that was a great picture to upload. I agree with you, she won't be mad. It captures her true self: wit and humour.

Many thanks.

Hello Angelique. Thank you so much for the update. Hard times for your family ... all. As you can see from the range of comments here, your mom has inspired a whole host of people from all around the world to reach out and support one another in love and friendship through good times and bad. It's quite something isn't it? She's quite a woman. I'm sure no small measure of that spirit is in you too.

I hope Renee is starting to feel the benefit of the hospital tratment. I continue to pray for you all each day. xx Jos

What a lovely daughter ... Renee and your father have made a very good job of bringing up such a caring and kind woman.

I stumbled on Renee's blog several months ago and she makes me weep and smile, sometimes in the same post. In the past, she has often dropped by my daft ramblings to make a comment or share a smile and I have missed her of late though put that down to all the other sad events in your family.

When you give her a hug, can I piggyback a small cyber hug as well?

Angelique,

I can't explain how I love your mom and your family through her. I feel like I know her the way I would if she were my neighbor and I love her like she was family. And the strange thing about that is I didn't even know what she looked like until she gave us the gift of a photo in December. I can't wait to tell her how I had pictured her, a tall statuesque woman. Powerful and strong. Of course I always knew she was beautiful. I had a laugh at the petite woman I saw in the picture. But to me, your mom will always represent strength, her spirit is as strong and powerful as I had imagined her as being.

I was so sorry to hear about your grandmother, she was obviously an exceptional woman. Look the wonderful family she left on loan to the rest of us. And we are grateful!

Tell your mom she has to feel better soon because I have some exciting news I want to share with her! I'm still betting on her and I love her to pieces!

Take care Angelique,

Love, Jamie

kept hopeful smiles

Finding love
a new life did begin
A Mother's Love
welcomed them in

Starting a family
gave new appreciation
A Mother's Love
such steadfast dedication

Busy lives
yet never far apart
A Mother's Love
always dear to our heart

Age advances
we come back and embrace
A Mother's Love
wrinkled, yet full of grace

Elderly frail
mother changes her style
A Mother's Love
come sit for a while

Twilight's near
as we hold hands
A Mother's Love
our heart commands

At her last breath
Peace and Comfort come
A Mother's Love
we gain strength from

Feathered wings
surround us with love
A Mother's Love
now comes from above

Grief is short
when we remember when
A Mother's Love
is free to live again

Find comfort
in God's Love and Light
A Mother's Love
still hugs you every night
