change is a coming. i think of my wonderful friend in iran and i just know the day will come in her lifetime when imbalance and injustice will no longer find the light of day. each of us, in every small and every possible way, has a part in assuring freedom for all. i love that you continually drive that message home, my darling friend.
and by the way, it's saturday and i hope the sun is shining on you. or perhaps the sun is enjoying the fact that you, ms. renee khan, so widely and brightly shine on your own.
Hmmm...I would like to say, "We've come a long way baby" but sadly, we haven't come too far from the scene depicted in the sketch! Hope you have a lovely weekend! xoxoxo
Hahahah! This is so funny! hee hee! Dang pen...just think of all the trouble this country could have avoided. :) Well, today I am celebrating having Mr. Obama at the helm. I hope you have a great day, today, Renee - we're having some amazing weather here, so I'm putting some in a box and sending it to you, just in case you need it. xoxox Pam
Giggle Snort....loooove it!! Just wanted to pop by and say hi...am still sick but on the mend I think. Got much worse on Thursday and feel a bit like I have been hit by a large truck. Hope your weekend is a good one!!Love, Sarah
Oh my gosh can you imagine? Not me. I like having rights. when you think of third world countries whose women can still be murdered for talking to a man. How lucky we are. Happy 4th to all.
Here in the U.S., women got the vote, and before long we had two world wars. Now, gas prices have soared, church attendance has plummeted, and we're having global warming. If only we could go back in time!
Renee...my son is in Guatemala with my husband these days, I think you will enjoy reading his post from there. http://thatboywhoblogs.com/2009/07/01/guatemala-part-1/#comments
What's the point? It's the same everywhere. The very rights drawn up in the Constitution to protect the people comes right back and bites you leaving you bones when it's through.
We need changes that nurtures and build up and we can always go back to a foundation that has been set, that can be depended upon..
I think about how far we have come as I make dinner every night! When will that role reverse? Just checking Renee to see that you are doing alright. will catch up soon. XOXO
Renee I'm here to steal!!!! What!!! Yep you read right ~~~ I'm running off with your love is greater than money image to use to talk about you!! please...Forgive me for not asking and just taking. I must dash.... it's heavy and I'm in broad daylight.
If "Married to the Sea," is the artist, would the family's motto be Omnes ad marem, meaning "All at sea"?
I raise that because "all at sea" seems a fitting portrayal of the men in this picture. Even if they had the ink they needed.
Sadly, we haven't come far enough. (I say this as a male Bear.) But then, the question might be asked,"Why should women lower themselves to mens' standards?"
I came here through your friend kj, who I just met, but I already like a lot. I liked a lot this post, the cartoon is great, you know it reminds me of how things are working now in my country (Argentina). We have a severe porcine flue epidemic, which could have been stopped, but since there where elections going on in the senate and the other one, they did not stop things for a week or 10 days (like in Mexico), they just continued as if nothing was going on, without taking any preventions. so an important part of this flue victims that could easily prevented was not. Activities weren't interrupted So they vote for the official party, and don't have time to change their minds. Elections are over now, and the virus is spreading at an amazing speed, because they left time for people to incubate it and at the same time transmit it. Of course someone has to pay for this, which was the ex-health minister, who has been discharge and been head accountable for. Take care nice lady

Cute one. I think Canada had women's voting rights before the U.S. No?

If only it were as easy as supplying more ink!
Oh, and that reminds me of a shirt I loved that I saw a girl wearing:
"We haven't come far enough, and don't call me baby."
HA!! So true (funny, but sadly true)
Hugs,
Great cartoon...LOL
Thank goodness they found some extra ink!
Have a Happy 4th of July today, Renee!

P.S. I suppose you DID get that I was just messing with your readers to see what their reaction would be. Print it or not as you think best.
NEXT TIME! Well, OK, then.
A promise is a promise!
