Grieve With Us

Jacquie, Gilbert, and I did Sheldon’s obituary and it is in the Winnipeg Free Press today. Please read it and grieve with us that this most magical young man is no longer physically present in the world.

Sheldon Bouchard
May 31, 1984 – September 18, 2009

It is with deep sadness that we who loved him most announce the passing of our son and brother.

Remaining to forever cherish Sheldon’s memory are his parents Jacquie and Gilbert Bouchard; his siblings Ben (Chrisy) and Jennifer (Paul); nephews and nieces Brett, Jeff, Luke, Kayla, Grace, and Brady. He also leaves to mourn his grandmothers Daisy and Lil and his many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Sheldon is predeceased by his grandfather Henri with whom he is currently sitting on a park bench with.

Sheldon had the best laugh you have ever heard. Sheldon loved to laugh and he loved to make others laugh. He was kind and polite and had a spirit that could make the galaxy look small.

Sheldon loved deeply, thought keenly, felt intensely and suffered beautifully. Sheldon showed us all what the true meaning of grace under fire meant.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 25, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Family Parish on Archibald Road.

Private family reception to follow.

Renee, my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. If anything good can come from a tragedy such as this, it's that it's a reminder that tomorrow is not promised, and we should live every moment in the present.

I couldn't read this without crying. It was so beautifully written. He embodied so much in such a short time on this earth.

Love and blessings to you and the family and to all that loved him.
It seems anyone who knew him had been given a rare gift for the past 25 years. May we all learn from his grace and the way he embraced life and it's challenges.

A Son's Love

A Son's Love is never lost
It stays right in the heart.

All you do is think of him
And you’re not that far apart

So grieve you must its part of life
It’s something we must do

Then take a breath and look within
He’s there inside of you

His smile, laugh and things he did
You see him standing there

His angel kiss you feel the touch
It breezes through your hair

So go outside and then look up
For that is where he’ll be

The promise of the Son it shines
For all of us you see.

Find Peace and comfort as he rests
He’s walking hand in hand

With loved ones that have gone before
They’re in the glory land.

He’s waiting there, you see, right now
He’s just behind that cloud

Close your eyes and listen well
It’s his kind voice aloud:

The song within the birds you hear
And babbling of the brook.

So be at Peace and go within
He’s there just take a look.

Many Blessings be upon you now
And with your family

For God did promise with the Son
We’d meet in Calvary

I came to mourn with you my dearest friend.

I shall remember this of Sheldon. When asked if he was ready to die he replied "I am but my family is not." What family wants to let go of a good member?

"When he was transferred to the palliative care unit he joked about being sent to the die. He was half joking, wasn't he? I will try to remember that when I am faced with a struggle where I magnify it's enormity and left paralized with pain and sorrow yet I have the chance to live another day and correct my mistakes. Sheldon did not have another chance yet he never lost his honor and dignity and sense of humor.

He was witty, sharp, intelligent.

He was tender, gentle, caring and most loving.

I am bound to believe that during the last days of his life, Sheldon totally gave up all self love and offered it to spare his family added pain and sorrow.

What an irony. Some people live many years and when one tries to read their lives, they cannot make anything substancial from it, no sense at all.

Then there is Sheldon. I have never seen more courage, more regal bearing, more dignity, more love in someone so young as he said goodbye to his loved ones.

I know what to call someone like Sheldon - angel.

Thank you my dearest Sheldon!

Of quiet birds in circled flight.
