Happy Valentines Day

I am wishing all of you a sweet Valentines, whether you spend it with someone you love or whether you spend it alone. Be happy.

A little history lesson didn’t kill anyone. So Saint Valentine where did you come from?

The Catholic Church recognizes at least three different saints named Valentine or Vanentinus, all of whom were martyred.

One legend contends that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome when Emperor Claudius II ruled. Claudius II realized that single men made better soldiers than men who had wives and families, so he outlawed marriage for young men (potential soldiers).

Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Emperor Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine’s actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death.

Oh, how sad. The poor valentine, he was so brave and loving. I know his ending was sad, he made such a difference in life and I am so proud of him.
Thank you for sharing this story, my daughter Hannah grown up dark hair on photo said Cool, and went to tell everyone else in the house about valentine.
A big hug and big kiss from me! I am wishing you have a great day.

You even made Valentines more interesting - enjoyed the read.

I am always thankful on this day because all the hubbub (?) makes me wonder if for some people this is the only day they are able to show and be shown love?

xoxo

This illustration is sweet but it reminds me of a funny vignette. I worked with a lady once who loved loved loved Mary Engelbreit's work so much so that EVERYTHING was about Mary. Now don't get me wrong, I once looked up to Mary...still do because she was a self-starter, but this lady was so over the top that one day I just turned to her when she was gushing about Mary and I said "She's just too fucking happy for me."

She dropped her jaw to the floor and then...she busted a gut laughing! I think it was because she just didn't expect that from me.
Aaaah, good times.

love you!
Lolo

Even though I went to a Catholic School - I don't think we were taught about St Valentine.(Valentines Day has only become more popular here in recent years!)Thanks for the interesting research. Hope your Valentines Day was an extra special one!!
