February = 02

Who was your Valentine? Love and rage and Wahid were my Valentines. Luckily love and Wahid won out. Love because I love my husband and always have warm feelings for him. Rage because he always pulls the stunt of washing the car right before a wedding, leaving me on pins and needles as to whether he is going to be home on time for us to make it to the wedding ceremony. In this case, he was late and we had a 45 minute drive ahead of us. The wedding was to start at 3 p.m. and luckily for us, we drove by the bride at 3:25.

When you were little did you buy valentines for the whole class? Yes, my mother did. The best thing about them was that they were not in a box already done for you, but they were in a book where you had to either cut or punch them out yourself. I loved giving and getting valentines. I especially loved the boxes we made in class. I always carried it home so proudly and looked at it and the valentines in it forever.

Do you care if the groundhog sees its shadow? No, winter in Manitoba lasts forever, whether he sees his shadow or not makes no difference.

What did you receive for Valentines Day? I got deluxe chocolates and red tulips from my lovely girl Nadalene the day before. The day of valentines I received two cards from my other lovely girls, Angelique and Josephine. The day after valentines I got a red tulip plant from Wahid.

What did you give for Valentines Day? I sent out valentines in the mail. At my nieces wedding I also gave out candy valentine bracelets to some special girls.

Oh Renee, this was a lovely walk down "memory lane!" I too loved Valentine's Day when I was in school. I remember the anxiety of choosing the right Valentine for the right person - one DID NOT give an "I love you" card to just anyone!

Lovely reflections you recorded!

Hope you had a wonderful time at the wedding - and especially the ride in the nice clean car!
Love audrey

Thank you dear, sweet Renee! I appreciate that.

The bracelets were from you! How cute and what a great idea ... well then I got two of my three gifts from you - a card in the mail from a secret admirer which I loved and the candy bracelet which I wolfed down in 2.3 seconds, plus I was on the phone with you when Peter walked in with a dozen carnations (as I was gushing how I love carnations to him all I could think was it's a good thing I am not Nadalene - lol)... What I gave is not fit for your gentle ears.

I love this post! So winter-y. My husband is also one of those guys who thinks of last-minute things to do before appointments that HAVE TO BE DONE and makes us late. Totally bewildering.

I loved Valentine's Day when I was a kid too, and grew to hate it in my adolescence when it started becoming a "romantic" holiday and lost its sweetness. I remember one boy in college getting mad at me for not putting out after a sushi dinner and a movie on a Valentine's Day blind date. As if anyone is that easily won!

My husband & I do not give Valentines on Valentines day, but three days before which is a kind of anniversary for us - I made my husband a card from magazine paper and embroidery, and I bought him a soapstone heart. (Actually I really, really liked the heart myself so in a way it was for me but I had to have a good reason to buy it!) My husband got me a very sweet card which says "you're the chocolate spread on the toast of life" which I thought was very cute. On Valentines day I gave a Valentines tea party for my friends and also invited my blog friends to attend virtually ...

I love that you all celebrate valentines day. A custom here just for couples. I am going to turn over a new leaf and next year I am going to send my family something for valentines also!

Oh how sweet. I loved Valentine's day when I was a kid. I always would beg for money so I could get some valentine's and give them away. I now love this day even more because we were married on V/day. My husband gave me a beautiful card and on it he wrote, "I love you more now than before and I'm always happy to come home because you are there." Is that not sweet. He gave me other goodies as well and I him. Hope you are doing okay Renee. Have a great rest of the week.

I loved the valentine box at school too! And I remember punching them out or cutting them out. Some eventually came in little plastic envelope bags.

I received a few valentines from friends this year and I also mailed a few.
I got a big fat goose egg from hubby this year, but I have to say it was my idea to let the day pass by without fanfare.
He did the dishes for me! That's better than flowers ;)

How are you doing today Renee?
Big hugs ;)

Renee ~ Thanks for stopping by my blog. Don't you just love to get comments? I remember making Valentine boxes when I was young. It was so much fun - doilies, valentines, lace and anything else you could find. What fun! Yes, I gave valentine's cards to everyone in the class - my mom would not ever hear of leaving anyone out! Mom always knows best!

Renee,

I have family in Winnipeg and they say that February and March can be the coldest months of the year.

I've never been there in the winter but have always visited in the summer. Hot! Hot! Hot!

1)I just got home from work and there was the most interesting comment that might just give my "followers" the wrong idea:D Oh well, what the _ _ _ _!!

2)Rahid sounds like a very "sensible" guy. Didn't you ever hear that it's good luck to attend a wedding in a newly washed car:)

Blessings and Love,

Nancy

Ug, my husband is the SAME way with his car. Grrrrrr. And I DO remember those punch-out Valentines! Wow, takes ya back, doesn't it?

My older daughter made special pancakes for breakfast, which was a delicious treat. I gave my girls lavender sachets and a heart tea-towel for their little tea parties. And later that night, the whole family feasted on Italian at a favorite restaurant. And the weather was surprisingly warm. Must have been all the love in the air.

I'm sorry about your side.

I'm placing a warm, healing hand there(if I may) in the hopes you'll feel better.

The animal whispering has been tough these past 2 days. I had to tell a 90 year old client that her kitty has gone diabetic from the treatment we've been administering ( a side effect we were aware of.) I took her to the vet today so we could discuss options. I will not abandon this lady and I will help her with the best decision no matter how tough. I've brought this cat so far, but I will not be a part of prolonging suffering. I'll hold her hand every step of the way.
Thanks for asking. Some days I have nothing left to give by the time I get home.

I always have love to send to Winnipeg though ;)

For valentine's day I got perfume and a gift certificate for time on a massage table. (Tried it last night it was wonderful.) What I gave was money for my daughter, because she needed that more than gifts, and for my husband after shave cologne and massage oils. We also had a special dinner at home with wine and chocolate for dessert. We had a fun night. ;)

Thanks for the lovely comment you left on my blog.

What a wonderful post! You have such a gentle, kind spirit. I loved Valentine's Day in school, too, and enjoyed decorating the shoebox with the slit in the lid for the treasures it would hold.

My husband took me to visit my mother who lives a few hours away for Valentine's Day (as you read at my blog---and thank you for the sweet comment!)

Your daughters have beautiful names. They sound like music. Hugs and Blessings from the Queen of Dragonflies in lovely Louisiana. Laizzez les bontemps roulez, (let the good times roll) as we say here as we prepare for Mardi Gras.

Renee, I send you a looping garland of bright hearts interspersed with little silver bells for your Valentine because you make our hearts sing.

I got my first Valentine in 1989, from my now husband - I always used to dream and wish that I would get one but never did... I used to have to smile as if I didn't care when my sisters all got them.
Now I get one every year, so being 28 before getting my first one makes them all special x

(will e mail you tomorrow Renee, okay x lots to tell you about China's trip and Jazz's football) been making stuff to,it's on my blog x

I took my husband out to his favorite place for breakfast. We spent the evening snuggling on the couch watching a movie, the dogs all piled up on top of us.
