I'm hoping this President can turn some things around, but I'm also wondering if anyone can. Whatever "dog and pony show" goes on out in center stage, you can bet some really powerful and ugly people are pulling the strings in the wings. That always seems to be related to corporations and money, and more money, etc.

I LOVE the fantasy post and the image of animals hopping off the Merry Go Round.

That should work in the "real" world. Maybe it does.

xoxox right back at you

A terrible indictment indeed. How can anyone think they will succeed where France and Russia with all her 'disposable' population of annexed countries have failed?
It is a totaly untenable situation with incredible and prolonged loss of life on all sides. Fighting in a foreign country where the people are proteting their land and way of life no matter how reprehensible it is, is skating on very thin ice. To them anyone who is different is an enemy. On the other hand, the intruders, no matter how well meaning, cannot distinguish the good and the 'bad' in of the locals and make many mistakes in killing the innocent which rouses even more ill feeling towards them.
In a perfect world, people could beat one another on the arena field rather than the battle field.

OOoooooo I should probably not comment on this one, BUT the Army Mom in me must. I shall simply paraphrase what an Army Mom who just lost her son in that ambush in Afghanistan said...if we are going to be there, send in enough troops to get the job done instead of having a few there as sitting ducks. She said this as she accompanied her son's body home. Enough said. I love you, my little Liberal! I love you to the moon and back! ♥ ♥ ♥ Deb

Yes but then what?

What about the people who live under tyranny. I realize "we" are not the world police, but to be honest this about oil because there is so much destruction happening in Africa and what are "we" doing about it - NOTHING.

Argh!

much love

'what's the difference between being in a rut or the grave?' the answer 'nothing, the one is just deeper.'

Poor Obama, he inherited a real mess. I hate war.

There is a great quote by Stephen R. Covey, author of "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People." I found this quote on a "7 Habits" calendar page dated March 19, 2003, ironically, it's the day the US invaded Iraq:

"Some people become so centered on an enemy, so totally obsessed with the behavior of another person that they become blind to everything except their desire for that person to lose, even if it means losing themselves.

"Lose-Lose is the philosophy of adversarial conflict, the philosophy of war."

What a great quote, eh?

I hope you get to spend some time this weekend laughing (your famous "har har har") with those you love, dear Renee.

Love and hugs,
xoxoxo

Oh my! This is making the point. The pressure is on this President to continue spending money and resources for the military.

So sorry to hear that, dear one. Thank you for telling me how you really feel. Take care of yourself.

I love you.

Isn't it sad? I know the hearts of men, and the hearts of men will always lead to war. Hoping that our President can prevent more lives lost. I don't know though... Everytime the holidays come around I feel the pain of those families who have lost loved ones: fathers, sons, husbands, lovers, daughters, mothers, wives.
And thank you for that lovely comment you left. Your dad's words cheered me up! Hugs and kisses to you Renee! Wishing you a wonderful joy-filled weekend!

The caption of your blog makes me ponder...mmmm, what's the difference between soundless and silent? I guess soundless is a more amplified version of silent? What do you think? I've not checked with Mr. Webster yet ;-)

Hope you're feeling well today. I'm a knitting fool today, but may switch to crocheting in a little while.

Love,
Doris

Thank you Renee. Yes, I know you love your sisters as much as I love mine! How are you sweetie?

So true. Gordon Brown has just said he is going to send lots more troops out there. At least two British troops are killed each week. It is so depressing. Not sure what I would do if I was a person in power though. But pouring more soldiers into it to just be killed might not be it.
I did know Nathan was a teacher as you wrote about him qualifying. I don't think I knew Angelique was though. Nadalene's job sounds important-you don't want to get that wrong! I love your children's names by the way.

Just a hello and a hope you are doing okay comment. I try to stay out of political/religious conversations. Although I must say that "OUR" men and women should come home. That is all I have to say. You take care Rene. God bless you.

... and start pulling the dirt on over yourself! Trouble is we are not the ones holding the shovels. Our Government-Mafia in charge are using a bulldozer. Supplied by the Wall Street Bank(robbers). Obama has succumb to their pressure and backed off them. Just another puppet.

If only it were this black and white.

Getting left behind is hard. Mostly, I cry knowing what the girls are missing and what he is missing with them. That gets me all the time. But we will see our loved ones again. Love you, darling. xoxo

That's a good point to ponder for many things.

Thank you for coming by. Yes, indeed a bad weekend. I want to share everything with you but not what we are sharing presently. Staying in bed mostly because my lower back is killing me, the new heart meds are playing havoc with the last cycle or the other way around. Either way, this is the pits, and I am not speaking of Brad and Angelina...sigh.

Love you and give my love to Jacquie. Would you believe the word verification is Osicks? Indeed. O-us. Hugs my love. As far as the cartoon, one should remind the good man never to bring a knife to a gunfight...

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. I guess that he's feeling the pinch now, isn't he? Stop digging, man, and go for the kill. Let Rupert call you 'racist' if he so wishes. Everyone knows who Rupert Murdoch is. Everyone knows what Fox News stands for. But do YOU stand for, Mr Obama? As Bob Marley put it very bluntly: 'Get up, stand up, stand up for your rights!'.

Many thanks for this post.

Greetings from London.

I just hope Obama lives up to and honors his word. If he does not he will have just a pile of excuses and explinations and not results.

He promised alot

Time to deliver

No excuses, stories or blame!

I'm with Linda and feeling ever more cynical about our current President's effectiveness when he's faced by the much larger, more powerful entities of money.
