Happy Thanksgiving

In Canada, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday in October. Originally Canadians gave thanks for a successful harvest and since Canada is further north then the U.S. our harvest season is earlier.

‘As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.’ ~~ John F. Kennedy ~~

I have to admit to being baffled at a custom that slaughters millions of turkeys to 'give thanks.' Do I sound like a party pooper? :)

I am happy to have found your blog. I am deeply moved by it. I think it's beautiful that you share and I am sorry about sheldon . I also lost an aunt to breast cancer . She had the most beautiful spirit, sometimes I wish that we would have talked about the " C" word less. I miss her very much. I wanted to say hello and if I could hug you through a blog I would:)

aaah, great quote. I think I've got to steal that one for my quote file!

Oh Happy Day

Renee (that rhymes, tee hee)

I have the flu or a cold (not sure how to tell the difference) and though I'm not on any meds for it, I can use that as the excuse for my off base sense of humor today can't I?

Jackie said...

Hi again Renee,
Thank you for visiting my blog. I was so touched by your blog and your spirit. My aunt planned her funeral as well , so reading your post about that was so touching. It really is an act of love.
What I mean when I say I wish we would have taked about cancer less is that all our conversations after cancer became about the disease and I wish we would have given it less power. You know it changes things, I wonder if she ever just wanted to talk without having to think about Cancer. She was so positive and loving. I really never knew how strong she was until after her cancer. When she found out she had terminal breast cancer a tear slid down her cheek and she said " well at least I don't have to worry about dying of heart disease " (we had lost my father, her brother at 41 to a sudden heart attack). She always found humor and she got a kick out of beating the odds .They had told her she would live 6 months, she fought for 5 years.I see that wonderful strength in your posts as well .I wish you continued strength and a mind that can sometimes wander free from Cancer.
Big Warm Hugs,
Jackie
