Awesome quote, Renee!

I finally found my old copy of "A Confederacy of Dunces" and started reading it again last night. It's even funnier the tenth time around. LOL! I'm so you're enjoying the read. Laughter is good for the soul. It's a classic. Love & Blessings, dearest friend!

I have a card that I bought the other day, meaning to send it to you. Something about the picture made me think of you. I have it on my table of things to be posted! This quote goes exactly with the feeling the card gives me. Synchronicity!

Renee, John Kennedy Toole never got "A Confederacy of Dunces" published while he was alive and his mother got it published though her hard-headed motherly wiles by hounding Walker Percy who taught at Loyola in the 60's---the time after Toole's death. Toole had sent the manuscript to Simon and Schuster and, despite initial excitement about it, they eventually rejected it, commenting that it "isn't really about anything." Toole's health began to deteriorate as he lost hope of seeing his work—which he considered a comic masterpiece—in print.

He stopped teaching, quit his doctoral classes and began to drink heavily while being medicated for severe headaches. I think he suffered from severe depression and the rejection of the novel did him in. There's all sorts of speculation about his overbearing mother, him being homosexual (no proof of that) and other crap. It's just so sad that we lost such an amazing writer. What blows me away is that it went on to win the Pulitzer Prize!! I only hope that somehow, some way, Toole knows the success his life's work became. (I could go on an on about him. He and his book are one of my favorite subjects!)

Blessings, dear Renee!

So true, so very true. Grab a Hand and Hold on. There is something Amazing in store for you. It may be the beauty of a sunset, the smile of a stranger, finding your favorite shoes on sale, winning the lottery, or just finding new good friends to hold hands and walk the path of life with you for a while. Thank you for sharing this. Love and Light, Nina P.

there is nothing i like better than holding hands with someone i love.

i've been in the city today with my niece, helping her move in and get settled. i've seen mr. ryan and baby drew. i've watched my jessica glow for no reason. i ate at my beloved mr. sushi. i shopped for furniture and doodads.

i had a simple day with simple pleasures. it's about time.

love you, renee
