Regarding Daisy No. 2

My mother is amazing. Not because she is beautiful or tough as nails or because she never gives up or because in the 50s and 60s she thought it was retarded how women behaved. No, she is amazing simply because she is.

When I was having the gastroscopy last week and she was still in the hospital they would come to try to give her tests and she was telling them to go away because she is saying the rosary, her daughter is having tests and so the rosary could not be interrupted.

It is my Mom’s birthday today and if you want to treat yourself to an original character then check this out.

http://circlingmyhead.blogspot.com/2008/12/regarding-daisy.html

I know more and more that the faith my mother has put in me is the same faith I have put into my children. I love you Mom and thank you for the privilege.

Happy 83rd Birthday Mom. Love Renee, Wahid, Angelique, Nadalene, Nathan, Josephine, and Domenic.

Renee,

I loved reading about your Mom. Are you sure we aren't twins.

My mom was 29 when I was born and she already had 7 children; the oldest was 9 when I was born. She had 6 children after I was born.

My mom is 85; I went to celebrate with her and she is also a wonderful lady. They don't make them like that anymore.

xoxo

Love you both!

WOW - I just read your piece about your mom. Now I wish I could meet her, too (she could teach me a lot about the Rosary)! No wonder you are so FABULOUS, Renee; you were beautifully raised. I am in awe that, with so many children and all of the responsibilities that involves, your mom had the gift of making you feel like her favorite (& I'm sure you are). XOXO

83...old but not terribly. My mother died at 76--of smoking--and my father at 85 because he preferred death to "living out of a pill bottle." I'm glad you still have your mother. Be wary though. I know someone whose mother moved in to spend "her last days" with them nearly 40 years ago. The mother is now 105 and might very well out live the daughter.

What a wonderful description your daughter (the favored one) tells of your life. I wish I could have known you then and now. You would have had made my life richer. I'm so glad that you will stand by your daughter Renee... she is one of my best friends and I know you would agree we were meant for each other... You get out of that hospital and be well ~ I'm cheering for you along with Renee and Jacqui...
I love you Renee...

i am over the moon when it comes to my mom...........she is who i would love to be most like....
has always loved children
would always make room for our friends to eat over at anytime without notice and not to only one of our friends but a few at a time.
growing up i always knew my mom was ahead of her time....she was really cool, for instance i was probably in grade 9 when i told the school on a wednesday at 1:30 in the afternoon that i had to leave as there was a family wedding this afternoon. i came home and my mom was watching a soap opera that the wedding was about to start and she asked if i had a spare ..... i said no and told her what i had done..... she said if they fell for that then i should sit and enjoy the wedding with her.....i thought how cool it was that i could come to her and tell her the truth....
we looked a bear in the face together outside the cabin at petula lake....both terrified but i felt so safe the whole time because i was standing beside my moom holding her hand....
i love you mom
had fun with you at the club tonight...hope you had a good birthday.
love jacquie

Which because of you and Jacquie the old saying "The apple never falls too far from the tree" is more real than ever to me today.

Dear Miss Daisy, I wish you a happy birthday filled with sweet memories, health and happiness. You are a true woman, not a female of the species. Nothing speaks better of your character than the love of your children. Many happy returns of the day from someone who loves your daughter with all of her heart, and would have loved to take you to lunch today. Maybe next year?

In this day and age, it is a marvel to be privelage to such a relationship. I'm sure there are many out there who envy that relationship, including myself. Without a doubt, your mother has passed on some wonderful traits and many of us should pay heed to such wisdom. I hope your mother has a wonderful day of celebration on this, her 83rd Birthday. May there be many more.

I can see now where you get your inner strenght from. May it always work for you.

Happy Birthday to Mama! BTW, my brother is doing fantastic - for months now.

And we just found out today that hubby's dad's mesothelioma is curable. As the doctor said, on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the worst case scenario, he's a 1 !!

Phew! Come on life, throw me something else - I can take it!

while reading the post about your mom I found myself wishing. My mom has no faith at all, in anything, and being her daughter has put me to the test. My father was similar to your mom, and for that I am blessed, because of him I am who I am today. He died 15 years ago. thanks for writing so beautifully about your mom and sharing. it is now evident how you are who you are. A belated happy birthday to your mom
