B L D No. 13

Yule is one of the earliest English words recorded in a book written in 726 AD. That is almost 1300 years ago. It was the name used for the months between December and January. Most people relate the word today as an alternative name for Christmas.

A traditional Yuletide feast would have consisted of ale, bread, a pig, a bullock, three bucks (venison), cheese, milk, and fish. (Where’s the turkey?) They also may have had apples, nuts, and sweetmeats made from honey.

The food may have changed but the tradition of celebrating a meal with family has not. So let’s eat, drink and be merry.

My absolute favorite time is time spent with our family. Can't wait till Christmas eve and we are almost all together. I love all of my sisters and brothers and the ones who can't make it at Christmas eve I want them to know I think of them that evening and wish they were there also. Eat drink and be merry I'm in.

Word origins are very interesting to me ... I love the picture of the skating children, the little girls are all about getting to where they have to go and as women are very task oriented, but the little boy looks like he has a other things on his mind ... I wonder what the artist was trying to depict?

I have no idea why, but I keep thinking of the Merle Haggard song "If we make it through December"...

Oh Lovee, that first picture brought stinging tears to my eyes, flashing back to 2nd grade for me when a girl brought in chocolate candies shaped like rings, covered in fancy foils, and I had no idea they were candy, and I accidentally broke one. Of course she was upset and in the middle of the group she said, well THAT one is yours. But I really think I am crying about you. I feel that you are posting twice a day, feeding us all you can, and yes I knew from the start that your days here are numbered, but it is one of those luxuries that WE have out here off pushing that away....into the future. Renee, when The Lord, God, calls you home, I am going to miss you SO much. So very much. And yet you have blessed me so much in this relatively short time that I have known you. You have done a very BIG work here. You are His beloved, faithful servant. And I worry every day about your suffering, your pain, and I am so sorry for that. I just wanted to say that I truly love you, my friend. And thank you. I believe in the resurrection, I believe in life that never ends. **kisskiss** Deb
