BLD No. 5 (2)

Christmas decorations; how do I love thee, let me count the ways. I am a sucker for all things Christmas. I have a small house and over the last few years I have only put up ¼ of the decorations and it still looks crowded.

Symbolism of some things you will probably see at Christmas. I will have all displayed in my home and if not displayed wrapped up in a box in the crawlspace.

Star: a heavenly sign of prophecy fulfilled long, long ago -- symbolizing the shining hope of mankind.

Red (the colour): the first colour of Christmas -- symbolizing the Savior’s sacrifice for all.

Evergreen (the colour and tree): the second colour of Christmas -- symbolizing everlasting life, as well, the needles of the tree point up to heaven.

Bell: rings out to guide the lost sheep back to the fold -- symbolizing that all are precious in God’s eyes.

Candle: a mirror of starlight -- symbolizing the reflection of our thanks for the Star of Bethlehem.

Gift Bow: tying the present together – symbolizing that we should all be tied together in bonds of goodwill.

Candy Cane: the shape of the shepherd’s crook –symbolizing the love of the shepherd and the need to bring lost lambs back to the fold.

Wreath: having no end –symbolizing the never ending eternal value of love.

A wonderful holiday post, dear Renee! If you see my pitiful Louisiana snow pictures on my blog today, have yourself a good belly laugh. We got about an inch of snow, but it's so beautiful. I love you. Hugs and Blessings!!

Hi Renee, hope you're having a good day today - I'm with you in that I LOVE everything Christmas. I even tried keeping my tree up all year and was going to decorate it according to the holiday at hand, but soon got tired of it, fearing I would not appreciate it as much if I had it all year long.

So, Happy holy days to you and God bless you.

P.S. I decided to say holy days instead of holidyas, just to irritate people who won't say Merry Christmas - yeah, I'm so cheeky sometimes ;-)

Ooooooo I love christmas too..I do..for so many delicious reasons! We lost so many of our decorations in the divorce and later chaos..it has been fun though to replace things along the way.. so not as many as we used to have. But all displayed with joy. Love you hon, Sarah

Renee Renee Renee!!! Kisses for you O beautiful starry soul, and what a glorious list of symbols, I am going to adhere to each one for you this Christmas. Mum and I will go to Scotsdales Garden Centre and buy a pine tree. It will drip needles and scent everywhere and I shall decorate the tree my way and Mum will quietly tidy it up when I am not looking ;)

You make everything more special ;)

Do you know who Holly Cole is?
We're supposed to go out and hear her tonight but it's freezing cold and raining which makes me want to stay in. What a poopy head I am!

I wish I were Norman Rockwell. What a talent he was, the things he could see with his eyes.

You have educated me once again, dearest. I had no idea about all the symbolism.

Hey, a month is a long friggin time to wait for the doc. I hope you are not too uncomfortable, and how I wish they could take care of you sooner.

My arms encircle you. xoxo

Ah, this is lovely, Renee! The BAD pine needles fall off and go to
- - - -. teehee. Oh the tying together, I like that. I am tied so tightly to you, Lovee, that I'm amazed you can breathe.

I am in a HAP HAP HAPPY MOOD!

It is definitely a special time of the year. You can basically get an idea of how into Christmas people are by the way they decorate their homes. Seeing the effort and creativity as you walk down the sidewalks takes a little bit of the darkness out of winter. Lovely thoughts Renee.

I always read your posts Renee and this is a wonderful Holiday post. I too share most of those things with you at sometime during the Holiday.
I have given my son Aaron a Santa every year at Christmas and so now he will have 24 this year. I'm hoping to give them to him when he has a home of his own.

This will be a quiet Christmas I think. We may and may not stay at home. I don't need anything and my husband says the same. We will do something for Aa... and maybe a gift certificate here and there... It's not the same as having a big family around.

We also celebrate Hanuka with R's family. That's more family, reading, gifts and latke's...

I hope you are having a good week-end and I'm thinking of you dear one.
Much Love ~Pattee : )

I, too, love all things Christmas, guess that's why I love to make Santas and now that I've done a Nativity scene, I want to do more. I did not know all of this. Thank you so much for sharing..thank you for your prayers for my Lisa. She thanks you and said to tell you that you and your family are in hers nightly. Love to you, dear Renee.

Thank you for this post. My son and daughter constantly ask me what the purpose of the candy cane, or the candle, or the bells. And I make things up because I don't know. Now I have the answers at my fingertips.
